Tasting notes

Our 2023 Merlot is vibrantly fresh and quietly complex, capturing the balance between precision and plushness. Aromatically expressive, the wine opens with intense notes of Bing cherry, interlaced with sweet baking spices and delicate dried rose petals. On the palate, a velvety entry gives way to layers of fleshy wild raspberry, complemented by hints of vanilla bean and cocoa powder. Nuanced undertones of black tea and bay leaf add a savory dimension, bringing depth to its fruit-forward core. Medium in body with supple, well-integrated tannins, this Merlot has a polished structure that supports its bright acidity and refined texture.

Pairing

This versatile wine pairs well with a variety of foods like Margherita pizza, aged white cheddar and duck breast with a raspberry sauce.

Winery Description

The Bogle family has been farming in the Sacramento River Delta for six generations. The first 20 acres of vines were planted in 1968 near the small farming community of Clarksburg. Today Bogle Vineyards farms over 1,500 acres of wine grapes in the Clarksburg AVA and other select California winegrowing regions including Old Vine Zinfandel from Lodi and Amador and Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir from the cool Monterey and Russian River Valley AVA’s. The Bogle family’s deep respect for the land and generational commitment to putting consistent, honest value in every bottle is rooted in one over-arching philosophy: the family is involved in every detail of the business. And they are some of the nicest folks you’ll ever meet!
