The Vice Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville Batch #99 “99 Vices” 2020

Expressive with Acai, fresh grinded coffee beans and cacao notes leaping out; while the core of cassis and plum puree glides along steadily. Supple in feel and velvety with layers of fine tobacco and vanilla that continue to build throughout the long finish. Decant for an early reward or cellar until 2040.

Our vineyard is referred to it as a “ranch” and it is located on the eastern end of Oakville Cross Road. A stone-throw from Dalla Valle and a short stride from Screaming Eagle, the soils here transition from volcanic red clay to brown gravelly loam offering exceptionally good drainage. The vines produce small berries with deep concentration.

2020 vintage will be remembered for factors beyond the normal measurements. In Napa, it was a dry and warm winter and we didn’t start to see rain and cold weather until the end of March. While the mild Spring gave us a great early start, we worked under extensive safety protocols due to the COVID Pandemic. August was marked with one of the longest heat waves on record which led us to harvest in mid-September; and fortunately spared us from the smoke of the nearby wildfires that ravaged the region starting September 29th.
