Textbook Chardonnay 2021
“Crafted with four unique lots from grower partners in the southern end of Napa Valley. Fermenting in French Oak barrels and judicious use of malolactic fermentation leads to a lush, creamy texture with mid-palate weight while keeping the wine refreshingly bright, balanced and fruit-forward. Aromas of baked pear, crème brûlée, and candied orange are complemented by pie crust and baking spice.”

Winery Description
TEXTBOOK wines are so named because they consistently exhibit the characteristics that define classic Napa Valley and Oakville District wines: in short, TEXTBOOK wines are ‘textbook’ examples of the finest that Napa Valley has to offer. Owner and winemaker Jonathan Pey draws upon a lifetime of experience in fine wine: he has overseen winemaking in France, Italy, Portugal, Australia and New Zealand. All grapes are hand-picked from the very best sustainably-farmed Napa Valley vineyards. Boulder Block vineyard is the primary source for TEXTBOOK Cabernet and is located directly next door to Screaming Eagle; while the main source for the Merlot (Holmes Vineyard) is adjacent to Opus One and Paradigm, and just downslope from Harlan Estate. The hand-sorted grapes are fermented in small lots, fined in the traditional method with organic egg whites and bottled unfiltered.
