From this Winery
On the 10-year anniversary of our inaugural vintage release (2008), it is apropos that the 2018 Estate Red is unquestionably my favorite to date. When I planted this
site, this was the single vineyard wine I dreamed of making! Explosive, high-toned nose of mixed florals, vibrant candied cherries, freshly picked blueberries, and pencil shavings. The palate has layer upon layer of plum and dried figs. While the wine is structured and dense with the stuffing to age two decades easily, it is plush, balanced, and already drinking beautifully for a young bottle of FIGGINS.
The color is a gorgeous garnet hue. Complex nose of allspice, coffee with caramel, strawberry sorbet, roasted tomatoes, and charcuterie. Very fine-grained tannin structure with a focused palate of dark cherry and cranberry fruit character, and a surprisingly long, refreshing finish.
Intensely deep color. The aromatics are rich and sweet with notes of pomegranate, plum, raspberry, baking spices, vanilla, bay leaf, and a hint of plumeria. Broad and elegant on the palate with cherry chocolate character, a silky-smooth mouthfeel, and a plush, lengthy finish.
Inky depth of color. A classic and timeless Cabernet nose sporting notes of ripe blackberry and marionberry, cassis, dried herbs, olive tapenade, cedar, vanilla, and coffee. The palate is balanced with bright acidity and sings with notes of plum, black cherry and baking spices. The tannins are beautifully elegant in this vintage and the wine rewards with a very soft and long finish.
Dense saturated color. The bouquet opens with fresh plum, roasted coffee beans, toast and ethereal spices. On the palate the notes of dark cherry compote and baking spices harmonize with a creamy mouth feel and a delicious finish that lasts forever. A truly cerebral wine of levity and balance.
