The grapes for our Merlot are grown on estate vineyards in the southern part of Monterey County, California. The 2018 vintage showcases Merlot’s stylish and alluring characteristics with vivid flavors of plum and black berry. Hints of mocha and vanilla on the nose open up to complex, integrated layers of elderberry, blueberry, plum and cocoa flavors that impart a striking but soft impression on the palate.
It opens with aromas of blackberries, currants and rich plums. It unfolds on the palate with bright black fruit flavors and notes of vanilla and mocha, framed by perfectly integrated tannins.
Powerful yet supple, the complex layers develop into a long, savory, smoky oak finish.
Boysenberry and plum fruit lead on the palate and the structure toes a fine line between big fruit and oak nuance. Sweet oak notes usher in a core of dark fruit that is lengthy in briar and cherry flavors.
The tannins are supple and full on entry with a little firmness on the finish to lend structure and enhance the wine's suitability for food pairings

The mouthwatering entry is full of red plums and cherries, while the middle palate of the wine softens with touches of cola and a smooth and silky mouthfeel. Notes of baking spices and mocha are left behind by the 12 months in American oak, leading to a lingering, luxe finish.
Evolution Big Time Red has a new step with the release of the 7th edition. In addition to the components that you’ve come to love in this blend – Sangiovese, Syrah and just a touch of Evolution Lucky No. 9 White, we’ve added the red grape of Sicily: Nero d’Avola.
This addition adds more fruit to the blend to create a softer, rounder, fruitier flavor profile. This wine is tructured and rich with flavors of cherry and plum pie filling, black cherry and red currants and hints of savory notes throughout the palate.
